Do henchmen level? - Guild Wars Forums

When you get the henchmen in post searing ascalon, and they are all level 3, do they eventually level up? Just wondering because most everything they face is level 4 or higher, and yet, they don't seem to level up. Even with splitting the xp, they should be levelling up.

as far as i know, no, u just gota find higher level henchmen to fight with.

They get higher levels the further from Old Ascalon you travel.

i wqs told henchmen gain experience but are reset every time you go back to town

The henchman in Ascalon City are level 3--I found the henchamn in Piken Square are level 6. Where would the next higher level henchman be? I also found that when I use the portal map to Ascalon City with my henchman group--they end up being disbanded.
If I wanted to bring my level 6 guys out towards the Sarnelac Sanitarium area-do I need to walk all the way from Piken Square with them?

it would be interesting to see if they drop to the proper level for the area when they gate through

A guildy and I picked up 4 henchment from Yak's bend (total of 6 in group) and walked out to Grendich Courthouse where you could still only put together a group of 4. When we zoned in, we only lost one of the henchmen, the one that didn't also hang out in Grendich. We zoned back out and still had 5/4 group members so it seems you can take them to anywhere that the same named henchmen dwell.

I didn't notice if they're levels changed (was just happy to still have that 5th member fot the godawful ashes quest) but it would be worth looking into.

When i was level 8 I got level 3 henchmen from Ascalon City Last night I got to level 9 and suddenly I was able to get lvl 6 henchmen from the same place. Made things a whole lot nicer

Hmm...not me. I am lvl 12 and just checked and could only get LVL 3 HMen still in AC.

sardalak level 3
askalon level 3

there was a note that they automatically adjusted and if not it was a bug that would be fixed
this is to prevent someone bringing back an overpowered group of henchmen

I havent been looking since release but in the betas henchmen did level. You would get the message like you do when a rangers pet levels ... something like "Warrior Henchmen is now Level 7"

I can confirm that they level UP to the proper level if you enter an area with higher-level henchies.

So technically--I could get my level 3 group out of Ascalon City and I I ended up traveling far enough --they would auto level to 6 or whatever level was appropriate for the mobs we take on? That would be great because that is why I have been leery of exploring farther out.

Yak's bend has the level 8 henchmen, and you get 6 different to pick from there, not the usal 4

You would have to travel to a town that offers the higher level henchmen, in which case it's just easier to go straight to that town and get them from the start.

In beta, the henchmen did level. I spent many hours exploring the out of the way zones with henchmen (real people are too impatient or too slow

). Quite a few times I'd get the henchmen up to level 17 before I'd finally give up and return to town.

I have noticed the max pet lvl is usually 1 lvl below me. But it does level. Mine was at lvl 7 for the longest time and then I started using him again and he caught up to me (I was at lvl 11). Now he is lvl 10.
